📦 Installation
Spotsavr is a developer-mode Chrome extension (sideloaded ZIP) while we await Chrome Web Store approval. It takes about 60 seconds to install.
Step-by-step install
- Download the ZIP — go to spotsavr.com/install, sign in or sign up, and the ZIP will download automatically.
- Unzip the file — find
Spotsavr.zipin your Downloads folder and extract it. You should get a folder namedHermes. - Open Extensions — in Chrome, navigate to
chrome://extensionsor go to Menu → More Tools → Extensions. - Enable Developer Mode — toggle the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner of the Extensions page.
- Load unpacked — click Load unpacked (top-left), then select the
Hermesfolder you extracted in step 2. - Done! — the Spotsavr icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar. Pin it for easy access.

⚡ How It Works
Once installed, Spotsavr runs quietly in the background. Here's what happens at checkout:
- Detection — when you land on a checkout page, the extension automatically detects it and fetches ranked discount codes for that store.
- Popup opens — click the Spotsavr icon in your toolbar to see available codes, sorted by estimated savings.
- One-click apply — hit Apply next to any code and the extension fills the promo field and submits it for you.
- Savings confirmed — the page updates showing your discount. If the code fails, try the next one down the list.
🔍 Extension Icon Not Showing
Pin the extension to your toolbar
Chrome hides extensions in the puzzle-piece menu by default. Click the 🧩 icon in the top-right of Chrome, find Spotsavr, and click the pin icon next to it.
Extension was removed or disabled
Chrome sometimes disables developer-mode extensions after an update. Go to chrome://extensions and check that the Spotsavr toggle is on. If it's missing entirely, you'll need to load it again:
- Go to
chrome://extensionsand enable Developer mode. - Click Load unpacked and re-select your
Hermesfolder.
You moved or deleted the Hermes folder
The extension will break if its folder is moved or deleted after loading. Re-download the ZIP from spotsavr.com/install, unzip to a permanent location, and load unpacked again.
🛒 Checkout Page Not Detected
If the popup shows "Not a checkout page" or no codes appear, try the following:
Make sure you're on the actual checkout page
The extension activates on pages where a promo code field is present. This is usually the page where you enter shipping and payment details — not the cart page or a product page.
Refresh the page
If you navigated to checkout via a single-page app (many Shopify stores do this), the extension may have missed the transition. Reload the checkout page with Ctrl+R / Cmd+R.
No codes exist for this store yet
Our code database is growing. If no codes are listed, we don't have any verified codes for that store at the moment. Check back later or let us know which store you'd like added.
❌ Code Didn't Apply
The code copied to your clipboard instead
If Spotsavr can't find the promo code input field automatically, it falls back to copying the code to your clipboard. You'll see a notification. Just paste it (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V) into the discount field yourself.
The code is valid but shows no discount
Some codes are influencer-specific or require a minimum order value. If the code applies but shows $0 off, the cart may not meet the minimum, or the code may be restricted to new customers.
The code was already applied
Some stores only allow one code at a time. If a code is already in the promo field, remove it first and then try applying a Spotsavr code.
Try the next code
Codes are ranked by estimated savings but store restrictions vary. If the top code fails, try the next one — it may have a higher success rate for your specific cart.
🔑 Sign In Issues
Popup says "Not signed in"
Click Sign In in the popup. This opens app.spotsavr.com/login in a new tab. After signing in, return to your checkout tab and click the Spotsavr icon again.
I signed in but the popup still shows "Not signed in"
- Make sure you signed in at
app.spotsavr.com— signing in atspotsavr.comalone won't authenticate the extension. - Click the Spotsavr icon again after signing in — the popup refreshes on each open.
- If still stuck, try signing out and back in via the popup menu.
I forgot my password
Go to spotsavr.com/reset-password to request a reset link via email.
Updating your extension
When a new version is available, the extension badge will display NEW. Click the icon, then click Update available — download now. Download the new ZIP, delete the old Hermes folder from chrome://extensions, and load the new one unpacked.
🌐 Supported Sites
Spotsavr is designed to work across a wide range of e-commerce platforms:
- Shopify — full support, including multi-step and one-page checkouts
- WooCommerce — full support
- BigCommerce — full support
- Custom checkouts — best-effort; works on most stores with a visible promo code input
If a store you shop at frequently isn't working well, send us the URL and we'll investigate adding proper support.
What data does the extension access?
Spotsavr only reads data on checkout pages — specifically the cart total, discount amount, and (when available) your email address and shipping address to personalise your experience. It never reads passwords, payment card numbers, or any data on non-checkout pages. See our Data Policy and Terms & Conditions for full details.
